Foreign nationals from outside the EU who are employed on a Czech employment contract usually join the Czech state health insurance system through their work/employment contracts.
Adult family members who will not be employed have to take out Czech private health insurance during their stay in CR.
Foreign nationals who do not plan on working during their stay in CR and are on tourist visas or other non-profit stays, such as studying in CR will also need Czech private health insurance.
The Czech Republic has international agreements with the USA, Japan, Turkey, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Tunisia. Residents of these countries can enter the health insurance system under the same or similar conditions as Europeans.
